GalaxyArt presents “THE ART OF BAMBOO: from Qilin to Contemporary Art” exhibition, starting from today till May 15, 2022, where intricate bamboo artworks by Hong Kong artist Louis To are featured. The artworks reflect the unique charm of intangible cultural heritage and demonstrates how traditional Chinese culture is embedded in the Macau community.
“The Art of Bamboo” showcases various exhibits to highlight the essence of bamboo artworks, from Chinese mystical animals Qilin and Chiwen, to how of bamboo crafts are practised in daily lives. The exhibition will also present how the craft has evolved into the contemporary arts and culture scenes, as well as screening a documentary which gives a glimpse into the art, and process, of how these delicate bamboo artworks are crafted. The exhibition aims projects a new angle in appreciating the intangible cultural heritage, thus encouraging young artists to preserve and inherit the art of bamboo crafts.
The Exhibition is now open to the public for free, from 10AM to 10PM daily, with docent-led guided tours at 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00 daily. As well, GEG Foundation will continue to host guided tours for local schools to visit the Exhibition, thereby cultivating young generation’s interests in and appreciation of arts and culture.
