2019 GEG Japan Macau Mentorship Scheme
After a successful pilot in 2018, a 3-year “GEG Japan-Macau Mentorship Scheme in Integrated Resort Management” was launched in August 2019. The purpose of the Mentorship Scheme is to provide university students from Japan with exposure and first-hand experience of integrated resort management at Galaxy Macau, and allows the Galaxy Entertainment Group, and the city of Macau, to showcase its successes by sharing its expertise and experience with Japan. In August 2019, six Japanese students from three universities in Japan, together with two junior executives from the Okura Nikko Management Co. of Japan participated in the Mentorship Scheme in Macau for three weeks. The students attended lectures on select topics in Integrated Resort Management presented by faculty members from the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau, as well as mentoring sessions conducted by senior executives from various departments at the Galaxy Entertainment Group. It is hoped that this Scheme will encourage young people from Japan to aspire to join the Integrated Resorts profession as the industry begins to evolve in Japan in the coming years.
