GalaxyArt, the non-profit art space managed by GEG Foundation, welcomed more than 60 students from Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (“IFTM”) to the oil painting exhibition “5 a.m.” and related seminars at GalaxyArt on the 15th and 16th November.
Led by Mr. Kelvin Leong, lecturer from IFTM, students were greeted by Ms. Florence Lam, Gallery Manager, Ms. Catherine Lam, Operation Manager, and the docents from GalaxyArt. A guided tour of “5 a.m.” was hosted for the visitors, followed by a seminar. These students were doing a course on “Introduction to Cultural and Heritage Management” and “Art Administration and Management” as part of their degree studies, and as proposed by their course lecturer, two special topic seminars entitled “The Difference between a Museum and a Gallery” and “Venue Management” were conducted. These seminars allowed students to acquire real-world knowledge and interact with professionals in the field of art administration and management, providing them with valuable insights as they navigate their future paths.
Mr. Kelvin Leong appreciates the exhibition and thinks it is a good way to improve IFTM students’ knowledge of art and cultural management, both theoretically and practically.
Ever since its opening, GalaxyArt has held regular seminars of relevant topics for students studying specific subjects in various higher education institutes in Macau. The team of GalaxyArt look forward to much more meaningful exchange through these learning seminars, to help nurture and empower the youth through art and culture.
